  • Engineering Drawings: Provide detailed technical specifications, including fitting locations, accessories to be included, etc. 
  • CAD Drawings: Available in standard formats for integration into plant layout software. CAD files allow engineering teams to incorporate the tank into broader facility designs, piping layouts, and secondary containment plans. If you don’t have a CAD program on your computer, you can use Autodesk Viewer to view the 3D file.
  • System Drawings: For complex tank systems such as the SAFE-Tank® double-wall system or tanks equipped with the IMFO® (Integrally Molded Flanged Outlet), system drawings show how all components interact as a complete assembly.

Step is a standardized graphic exchange file format that can be used to exchange data between CAD and other drawing systems.   3. Identify Fitting Locations. All fittings, including inlet, outlet, vent, and manway locations, are called out with a letter or number designation and referenced in a fitting schedule table. Confirm that fitting sizes, types (threaded vs. flanged), and positions match your piping design.

If the drawing references the SAFE-Tank® system, confirm that both the inner and outer tank dimensions are shown, along with the interstitial space specifications.   • Initial Specification: Your team provides the chemical to be stored, the required capacity, the specific gravity, the operating temperature range,  and a marked-up drawing for us to work with. Poly Processing uses this information to select the correct tank model, wall thickness, and system configuration.
  • Preliminary Drawing Review: Poly Processing issues a preliminary drawing for your team to review and approve. This is the critical checkpoint where fitting locations, sizes, and system features are confirmed before manufacturing begins.
  • Revision and Approval: If changes are needed, revised drawings are issued. Most standard tank configurations require only one revision cycle, but complex systems with multiple fittings, custom covers, or integrated secondary containment may require two or three review cycles.
