Markets Poly Processing Serves – Part 5

Poly Processing tanks are used worldwide for water and wastewater treatment applications. We provide solutions to a wide variety of businesses and organizations that use tanks to store chemicals and other materials for water treatment.

crosslinked polyethylene storage solutions for your industry part-5

This is the fifth in a series of articles that feature the markets we serve. In this article, we highlight a few of the storage solutions we provide for the following industries:

  • Wastewater treatment
  • Municipal water treatment
  • Water storage

Wastewater Treatment

The goal of every wastewater treatment plant should be achieving the greatest useful life possible for the money you spend. Our tanks are designed for specific uses, chemicals, and industries to increase your tank’s longevity and performance.

For wastewater treatment applications, we offer three innovative tank solutions to address your needs:

IMFO®

Tank maintenance can be a challenge with many chemicals, which is why we developed the Integrally Molded Flanged Outlet® (IMFO®) system to minimize the hazards of traditional maintenance. With the IMFO system, the flange location is at the bottom sidewall of the tank for full discharge capabilities . Because it’s molded as an integral component of the tank, it eliminates stress and the opportunity for leaks at the flange.

SAFE-Tank® Double Wall System

Our SAFE-Tank is a crosslinked polyethylene double wall containment system. This “tank-within-a-tank” keeps contaminants secure in the case of a leak, avoiding the damaging of equipment, loss of chemical, or injury to employees in the event of a spill. It also keeps the interstitial space dry so that rainwater will not set off leak detectors.

OR-1000™

Poly Processing’s exclusive OR-1000 system was specifically designed to address the aggressive oxidation effects of sodium hypochlorite, sulfuric acid, and hydrochloric acid by adding a chemical barrier between the tank and the chemical. OR-1000’s inner surface is specifically formulated to resist oxidation. Its outer surface is made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for superior strength. The two surfaces are molecularly bound together, creating a truly seamless bond between the XLPE and the OR-1000 system.

Water Treatment

It’s common for wastewater treatment plants to rely on cross-linked polyethylene chemical tanks, but many municipal drinking water plants are using inferior linear polyethylene or fiberglass tanks. Poly Processing’s cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) tanks give you better performance, greater cost-effectiveness and more innovative solutions.

Our chemical storage tanks are designed to meet the storage needs of municipal water plants.

Full-Drain / Discharge Tanks

If concrete secondary containment is already in place, Poly Processing’s IMFO tank or Sloped Bottom IMFO tank are the perfect water treatment chemical storage solutions. The IMFO offers superior tank strength in a one-piece molded tank, with the flange molded into the lowest part of the tank.

The Sloped Bottom IMFO tank is designed for heavier materials and unparalleled full discharge. The additional gravity feed allows these heavier substances to drain more easily, making cleaning even simpler with no need for a confined-space entry.

Double-Wall Containment

If you don’t already have secondary containment, our innovative double wall containment system provides an unmatched solution. The SAFE-Tank System is a tank within a tank that keeps contaminants from entering the interstitial area. You get 110% containment in case of a leak, with a smaller footprint than other double containment systems.

Water Storage

Safe water storage is important for both residential and commercial uses. Water storage tanks are available in a variety of materials, including galvanized or stainless steel and crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE).

Polyethylene has several advantages over steel:

  • Unlike galvanized steel, XLPE tanks won’t corrode or rust.
  • Polyethylene tanks are a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel.
  • Unlike galvanized or stainless steel, XLPE tanks are manufactured with a seamless construction, which eliminates rivet or weld points that are subject to leaks.
  • Polyethylene tanks are lightweight. This allows for easy transportation and installation flexibility.
  • XLPE tanks can easily accommodate a wide range of fittings and accessories for your specific needs.

All Poly Processing water storage tanks meet ASTM and NSF 61 standards for potable water up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Storage Tank Buying Guide

Poly Processing water storage tanks are virtually maintenance free. An annual visual tank inspection is typically all that's required. If water is frequently cycled, tank cleaning typically isn’t needed. If water does sit stagnant for a period of time, you can add a filter or a chemical to kill bacteria.
