A Better Food Storage Option Than Stainless Steel Tanks

Stainless steel has long been the tank material of choice for storage in the food and beverage industry. Businesses have been hesitant to use polyethylene storage solutions, believing the porous resins would allow leaching and bacterial growth.

Poly Processing’s innovative OR-1000™ system gives you an alternative option to expensive steel tanks. Our advanced polyethylene resin technology is fully FDA/CFR compliant, giving you a storage solution with longevity and cost savings advantages for food and beverage operations.

Our Storage Tanks Are NOT FDA-Approved

To be clear, our storage tanks are not FDA-approved. In fact, no storage tank is FDA-approved. If you hear a tank manufacturer claim that they provide FDA-approved storage solutions, you should take extra measures to be sure they know what they’re talking about.

The FDA only approves ingredients that go into food, such as additives and preservatives. Instead, machinery that is used in food processing must comply with FDA requirements. So when you’re looking for a storage solution, be sure to ask if the tanks are FDA-compliant.

FDA-Compliant Storage That Reduces Costs

FDA-Compliant-Storage

In the food and beverage industry, it is critical that your food storage equipment is FDA-compliant, because you need to have every assurance that your tank system won’t provide opportunities for bacteria to grow. The OR-1000 is fully compliant with FDA/CFR Title 21, parts 176-177—giving you a cost-effective, lightweight and reliable storage solution for food and beverages.

The OR-1000’s engineered inner surface is made of  polyethylene, specifically formulated to resist bacterial growth and leaching. Its outer surface is made of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for superior strength. The two surfaces are molecularly bound together during the rotomolding process, creating a seamless bond between the XLPE and the inner surface.

Industry leaders already enjoy the economical advantages and one-piece seamless construction Poly Processing polyethylene storage tanks offer.

Other applications where the OR-1000 is used include:

  • Cheese processing
  • Clean-in-place (CIP) storage for food and beverage industry
  • Condiment storage and processing
  • Brining
  • Salt storage
  • PH adjustment for water treatment
  • Drinking water
  • Ingredient mixing and batching
  • Wine and beer storage and fermenting

Whatever your application in the food and beverage industry, Poly Processing has an FDA-compliant solution for your specific needs.

Additional Options to Meet Your Needs

New Water Treatment Plant in Washington 1-238344-edited-394239-editedMany of our customers put a full-drain IMFO® at the bottom of the OR-1000 tank and add all of their fittings, such as a level indicator, at the top of the tank. This gives you full-drain capability to prevent bacterial growth at the bottom of the tank, and it helps ensure that there is no place for bacteria to grow around a fitting or around a hole. The OR-1000 system is completely solid, all the way out from the IMFO throat to the face, so you don’t have to worry about bacteria hiding and growing around any fittings.
